| The existence of LAPENKOP originates from the awareness that the biggest program faces by co-operatives in Indonesia is low member participantion. Therefore, continuos education and training for co-operative members become one of logical and realistic solutions. Why member education ? Because :
Based on the above condition, the project of CMEC (Co-operative Member Education and Communication) was established on 1 September 1993. The project was the collaboration between the Indonesia Co-operative Council (DEKOPIN), The Institu of Co-operative Management Indonesia (IKOPIN), and Co-operative Centre Denmark (CCD). On 24 May 1995 the project changed into a parmanent institution, called LAPENKOP (The co-operative Education and Training Development Institution). LAPENKOP exists not only at national levels. This is what we call LAPENKOP's network. The establishment of LAPENKOP at province and district levels is carried out gradually according to the needs, capacity, and demands from the province or district. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
